Pennsylvania TV Station Profiles EHRP, Interviews Managing Director

In a project that began last November, Erie News Now is in the midst of their partnership with the Economic Hardship Reporting Project.

The EHRP is an organization dedicated to shedding light on poverty and economic challenges around the country.

Last year, over 200 projects were completed by various writers and photographers. One project was an Emmy recipient in 2018.

Erie News Now is the first television station in the country to take part in the initiative, hoping to add another media platform while also providing critical information to Erie residents.

The project locally is twofold: first, to show the economic challenges many local residents face, and also to recognize various people and nonprofits that are making a difference in this field.

The project will last a year and will include as many stories as possible.

Isaac Petkac is the reporter assigned to this project, and has already started telling stories on organizations in the area that strive to be impactful.

Save An Endangered Species: Journalists

The Economic Hardship Reporting Project supports independent journalists so they can create gripping stories which often counter the typical disparaging narratives about inequality. This high-quality journalism is then co-published with mainstream media outlets mobilizing readers to address systemic economic hardship.
