Two EHRP-supported projects were named finalists in the 2021 Deadline Club Awards journalism competition: Austyn Gaffney’s piece in The Guardian and Southerly, “‘They Deserve To Be Heard’: Sick and Dying Coal Ash Cleanup Workers Fight for Their Lives,” was nominated in the Newspaper or Digital Enterprise Reporting category, and Krithika Varagur’s 3-part series in The New York Review of Books, “Minneapolis After George Floyd,” was nominated for the Les Payne Award for Coverage on Communities of Color. This year’s winners will be announced at the annual Deadline Club Awards on Monday, May 17.
