EHRP Podcast, Comic Honored at 28th Annual EPPY Awards

EHRP is happy to share that its Going for Broke podcast, a collaboration with Wisconsin Public Radio’s To the Best of Our Knowledge, was named runner-up for the best podcast award (fewer than 1 million unique visitors) at the 2023 Editor & Publisher Magazine EPPY Awards competition. Hosted by broadcaster Ray Suarez, the three-part series centers on Americans who have lived on the edge and features some of the country’s top thinkers on income inequality.

Washed Away,” a comic collaboration between EHRP, Grist and The Bitter Southerner, was awarded first place in the best use of data/infographics (fewer than 1-million unique visitors) category. Written by Austyn Gaffney and illustrated by Martha Park, the comic detailed the struggle of a Kentucky family to receive natural disaster relief and repair their damaged home.

A judge commented, “A brilliant use of a medium to bring light to something that might fly under the radar for folks.”

The comic was also named runner-up in the best innovation project on a website (fewer than 1 million unique visitors) category.
