Mehrsa Baradaran
Professor of Law, University of California, Irvine School of Law (UCI Law)
Baradaran has expertise in banking law, financial inclusion, inequality, and the racial wealth gap. She’s the author of How the Other Half Banks, which looks at the U.S.’s two-tier banking system and predatory fringe lenders, and The Color of Money: Black Banks and the Racial Wealth Gap. She’s also managing director, UCI Policy Lab: AI observatory for Access to Credit, and a fellow at the Roosevelt Institute. Prior to UCI Law, Baradaran was, among other things, a policy advisor on Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign, and a member of the Biden-Harris transition team (for the Treasury and Federal Reserve).
